Custom solutions met Rope Access

Not every challenge can be solved with standard access methods or conventional techniques. SkyPeople develops and supports custom solutions for projects where accessibility, safety, and execution require specific technical solutions.

From specialized access systems and temporary structures to custom tools and automated solutions: we offer practical and technical collaboration to make work safe, efficient, and controlled within complex work environments.

Automated cleaning of guide wires

For cleaning guy wires, SkyPeople developed a specialized cleaning robot that allows cable structures to be cleaned safely and efficiently without extensive scaffolding or prolonged shutdowns.

The robot moves autonomously along the cable and cleans the guy wire with multiple rotating dirt cutters and high-pressure nozzles. This allows contamination, buildup, and corrosion residues to be removed in a controlled manner with consistent cleaning quality along the entire length of the cable.

With this customized solution, SkyPeople carried out work on, among other things, the Prins Claus Bridge in Utrecht and the Erasmus Bridge in Rotterdam.

Specialized access systems and custom constructions

In addition to rope access, SkyPeople works with various custom truss and access systems to perform work in locations where standard access methods are insufficient.

These systems are used in, among others, tank installations, industrial plants, rigging & lifting projects, and civil constructions where accessibility, load positioning, or temporary work platforms pose a technical challenge.

By combining specialized access systems with technical execution, work can be carried out safely and efficiently in locations that are difficult to reach by conventional methods.

Experience
within complex work environments

SkyPeople supports projects in offshore, industry, petrochemicals, civil engineering, and utility construction in locations where accessibility, safety, and continuity are paramount. Our specialists are familiar with working in complex environments.

Prior to execution, we determine the work method, schedule, and safety documentation for a controlled and efficient project execution.

More about us

“It was very pleasant to work with these gentlemen; they are professional and thoughtful. And not to forget, you can consult with them very well about the approach to the work. I am very satisfied with the result of the work. I greatly appreciate the effort and commitment of both, and I look forward to any future collaboration with confidence. Should an opportunity arise again to work together, I will certainly be positive about it.”

Bridge maintenance

“Skypeople has addressed some of the accessibility challenges on the Erasmus Bridge project for Van der Ende by thinking solution-oriented, where traditional scaffolding was not an option. With excellent collaboration, the highest parts of the Pylon and the ballast block in the bridge cellar have been safely and expertly preserved, and the cables cleaned. Skypeople has thus made a huge contribution to this magnificent project.”

Frequently asked questions

With Specials, SkyPeople refers to customized solutions for projects that do not fall entirely within a standard scope of work. This includes situations where accessibility, safety, positioning, execution, or temporary support require a specific technical solution.

This can include specialized access systems, temporary structures, custom tools, automated cleaning solutions, or a combination of rope access with technical execution. Specials are primarily used in locations where standard access methods such as scaffolding, aerial work platforms, or cranes are not practical, safe, or efficient enough.

A project falls under "Specials" when the worksite or execution requires a different approach. For example, because the location is difficult to access, because there is limited space for equipment, because a load needs to be positioned precisely, or because the work cannot be carried out safely with standard methods.

Projects involving multiple disciplines, such as rope access, rigging & lifting, cleaning, assembly, temporary structures, or automated tools, can also fall under Specials. SkyPeople assesses which work method is technically and practically best suited on a case-by-case basis.

Yes, SkyPeople can collaborate on custom access systems for complex work environments. In addition to Rope Access, temporary structures, truss systems, work platforms, positioning solutions, or other specialized access equipment can be utilized.

This is especially relevant when a location is not easily accessible by scaffolding, aerial work platforms, or fixed access systems. Consider industrial installations, tank environments, civil structures, bridges, piping, steel structures, or other objects where access and execution are technically challenging.

A custom solution can be interesting when standard access methods cause too much setup time, space, equipment, or disruption. For complex locations, a specific solution can ensure that work is performed more safely, precisely, and efficiently.

The advantage often lies in the combination of accessibility and feasibility. Not only is access to the workplace resolved, but also the way in which the work can actually be carried out. As a result, the impact on production, traffic, building users, or the environment can often be limited.

Yes, SkyPeople can develop automated or mechanical solutions when it suits the work. An example of this is the specialized cleaning robot for guy wires. This robot moves independently over cable structures and cleans with rotating dirt mills and high-pressure nozzles.

These types of solutions are particularly valuable when tasks are repetitive, difficult to access, physically demanding, or challenging to perform safely with manual labor alone. For each project, it is assessed whether automation is technically feasible and whether it offers added value in terms of safety, quality, or turnaround time.

Specials can be applied across various sectors, including offshore, industrial & petrochemical, civil & infrastructure, and utility construction. The application primarily depends on the accessibility, technical complexity, and safety challenges of the project.

In civil engineering and infrastructure, this could involve bridges, guy wires, locks, or steel structures. In industry and petrochemicals, it could involve tank installations, plants, pipelines, or confined access structures. In utility construction, it could involve complex buildings, atriums, facades, or installations where standard methods are insufficient.

Yes, a Special is often combined with other activities. Think of custom access combined with cleaning, preservation, inspection, assembly, disassembly, rigging & lifting, welding, E&I work, or technical maintenance.

For complex projects, mere access to the worksite is usually not enough. The technical execution must also be safe, controlled, and practically feasible. SkyPeople therefore considers the complete execution: from accessibility and positioning to safety documentation, work methods, planning, and on-site execution.

For custom projects, SkyPeople begins by assessing the situation, the worksite, the risks, and the technical question. This includes evaluating accessibility, required disciplines, environmental impact, safety measures, planning, and possible alternative access methods.

Based on this, a suitable working method will be developed. Where necessary, temporary structures, custom tools, Rope Access, rigging & lifting, or automated solutions will be included in the approach. This will result in an executable plan that fits the location and the work.

Yes, particularly with Specials, SkyPeople can contribute ideas early in the process. Sometimes it's clear beforehand what needs to be done, but not yet how to safely and efficiently access the workspace. In other cases, the execution itself requires a technical solution.

SkyPeople helps to explore the possibilities, identify the risks, and determine a practical working method. This can involve a one-time project, but also recurring maintenance campaigns or repetitive tasks where a smart, tailor-made solution can make a big difference.
