For Boskalis, Sky People performed specialist work on a hard-to-reach technical installation. The assignment consisted of welding supports, mounting and connecting sensors, and installing and connecting cabling.
Due to the position and geometry of the structure, several work zones had limited accessibility using conventional access equipment. Using rope access, our technicians could be safely and efficiently positioned at the required locations and perform the work directly on the structure.
Welding and assembling supports
For the installation of the measuring equipment, several steel supports and attachment points first had to be fitted to the structure.
Our rope access welders were able to perform the required work at height without the need for additional scaffolding structures at every position. The supports were installed at the pre-determined locations and subsequently formed the basis for the mounting of sensors and cabling.
By combining welding work and rope access within a single execution team, work on complex steel structures can be carried out efficiently, even when accessibility is limited.
Assembly and connection of sensors
After applying the supports, the various sensors and instrumentation components were mounted.
In addition to the mechanical assembly, our technicians also handled the corresponding E&I work, including the routing, guiding, and connection of the required cables.
This allowed Sky People to combine multiple disciplines within the same assignment:
- rope access and specialized access;
- welding work on steel structures;
- assembly of supports and attachment points;
- assembly of sensors and instrumentation;
- cable assembly and cable routing;
- connection of cabling;
- electrical and instrumentation works;
- technical inspection and monitoring of the performed work.
Rope access for E&I and technical assembly
In offshore, maritime, and industrial structures, sensors, cable systems, and technical components are regularly located in hard-to-reach places.
Therefore, Sky People combines IRATA rope access with technical disciplines such as E&I, welding, assembly, rigging, and inspection. As a result, a client does not need to hire a different party for each individual activity.
Our teams can be deployed for both individual specialist tasks and complete work packages where accessibility, installation, electrical work, and finishing are combined within a single project.
Fewer temporary measures, more direct implementation
Rope access can be an efficient alternative or supplement to scaffolding, aerial platforms, and other temporary access equipment for this type of work.
Technicians can be brought directly to the desired position, allowing work on steel structures, offshore installations, cranes, towers, platforms, and marine structures, among other things, to be carried out in a targeted manner.
For clients such as Boskalis, this means that specialized activities can also be practically scheduled in hard-to-reach locations within maintenance, modification, and new construction projects.
One partner for specialist technical work
Sky People supports clients within the offshore, maritime sector, industry, and heavy construction with work that requires both technical expertise and specialized accessibility.
From welding and assembly to E&I, sensors, cabling, NDT, and inspection: our rope access teams can combine various disciplines within a single execution method.
