Offshore platforms, offshore wind installations, and other marine structures are continuously exposed to harsh conditions. Salt water, wind, moisture, temperature fluctuations, and mechanical stress mean that steel structures, connections, and technical installations must be periodically inspected, maintained, and repaired where necessary.
Sky People supports clients within the offshore industry in performing complete inspection, maintenance, and repair work in hard-to-reach locations. Using rope access, our specialized technicians can safely and efficiently create access to virtually any part of an offshore structure.
From inspection to complete maintenance
Our work often begins with mapping out the current condition of a structure. During this process, our technicians can perform complete visual inspections on jackets, topside structures, steel connections, piping, and other installation components, among other things.
The findings are documented with photos and clear reports, giving the client immediate insight into any corrosion, damage, wear and tear, and other points of attention.
When the inspection shows that repairs are necessary, Sky People can also carry out the subsequent steps. This means a client does not have to mobilize a separate party for each discipline.
Our offshore rope access teams can be deployed for, among other things:
- visual inspections and condition assessments;
- NDT/NDT inspections such as VT, MT, PT, UT, and ET;
- removing and treating corrosion;
- blasting work and surface preparation;
- preservation and coating works;
- welding and structural repairs;
- assembly and disassembly work;
- rigging and lifting operations;
- mechanical work;
- E&I work;
- insulation work;
- inspection and repair of hard-to-reach structural components.
Abrasive blasting and coating work in the North Sea
During this project in the North Sea as well, Sky People was deployed for maintenance on the offshore steel structure.
Our rope access technicians reached the hard-to-reach parts of the structure and performed blasting and preservation work there. Affected surfaces were prepared and corrosion was removed, after which the coating system was rebuilt to protect the steel structure against the aggressive offshore environment for the long term.
By carrying out the work directly via rope access, the various locations could be reached efficiently without extensive temporary access structures.
Multidisciplinary offshore rope access teams
An important advantage of Sky People is that rope access is not only deployed as an access method. Our technicians combine their rope access qualifications with various technical disciplines.
This allows a single multidisciplinary team to, for example, inspect a structure, report anomalies, perform NDT, carry out repairs, and subsequently recoat the structure.
This reduces the number of separate mobilizations, simplifies on-board coordination, and ensures that inspection and maintenance can be seamlessly integrated.
One partner for offshore inspection and maintenance
In offshore operations, it is not only about execution on location. A successful campaign already starts with the preparation.
Sky People can support clients in putting together suitable teams, planning, work preparation, mobilization, and execution. During the project, activities and findings can be recorded and, upon completion, reported back in a clear report.
Whether it concerns a targeted inspection, an urgent repair, or a larger maintenance package: Sky People can combine various disciplines within a single project organization.
From inspection and NDT to welding, assembly, blasting, coating, and E&I – our objective is to offer clients within the offshore industry a single flexible partner for work in hard-to-reach locations.
Offshore rope access from A to Z
By combining rope access with technical expertise, work can often be carried out where traditional access methods are complex, costly, or practically unfeasible.
Sky People supports clients on drilling platforms, offshore wind installations, jackets, offshore substations, and other offshore structures with complete inspection, maintenance, and repair services.
From the initial inspection to the final repair and preservation: a single point of contact, a single project organization, and one team capable of executing the work from A to Z.
